We want every child to love learning and remember their school days with affection and enjoyment. We take every opportunity to enhance the children’s learning with memorable experiences – both within school and on school trips. Below are a selection of memorable experiences which we have completed over the last year. Every spring, our Year 1 and Year 2 children celebrate Easter with an Easter Bonnet Parade Enjoying Science with Science Week and STEM Days Every child in the school completed a ‘Mini-Marathon’ for St Catherine’s Hospice. With banners, balloons and family members cheering them on, it was a fantastic day. Rainbow Day; celebrating diversity and individuality Sports Day Boogie-ing the night away at school discos Celebrating Christmas with a traditional Nativity Exploring pumpkins Tinkering and woodwork in the outside area Having a visit from Goldilocks and the Three Bears Watching caterpillars become butterflies A farm visit, meeting different animals, spending time in the countryside and even getting a ride on a tractor! Visiting St Alban’s Church in Religion and Worldviews Visiting Ifield Train Station to see the trains and learn about where they go Having fun on Space Day! Performing to family members in their Christmas play Becoming young farmers by looking after lambs in the school field Visiting the Millpond Performing a Harvest Assembly to their parents and carers Hatching eggs in the KS1 shared area – we have had ducklings and chicks emerge in the past School trip to Littlehampton Beach, including a visit to the RNLI Station A beach day in their courtyard Visiting the Hindu Temple as part of their Religion and Worldviews topic Violin lessons as part of the One-Term-to-Learn initiative A trip to the High Street and Crawley Museum Ancient Greek Day Becoming soldiers in a Roman Bootcamp Performing a Christmas Carol Service to friends and family Discovering what happens to food when it is in the stomach with a messy experiment Learning about the Vikings by dressing up and completing in Viking workshops A mummification enactment as part of their Egyptians’ topic. Restart a Heart Workshops Going back in time for Victorian Day Year 6 Residential, taking part in a wide range of outdoor and adventurous activities. Taking part in the Crawley Junior Citizen event, completing workshops on a range of subjects including how to stay safe online. Becoming WW2 evacuees for the day Dissecting hearts The Year 6 Final Performance – a celebration of their time at Gossops GreenMemorable Experiences
