Our year 6 children benefit from a week long residential at the start of their final year at the school. The children get the opportunity to partake in a range of outdoor and adventurous activities, which may include archery, rock climbing, orienteering, shelter building, zip wire and/or raft building, as well as a variety of team building activities. These activities are all designed to develop children’s resilience, team building skills and confidence, as well as covering the objectives for outdoor education in the National Curriculum. The cost of the trip includes indoor sleeping accommodation in single-sex, dormitory style rooms of 4-6, with en-suite showers and toilets, food, activities, transport and insurance.

We still need to continue with our payment commitments and stick to the deadlines as set out back in June 2020. PGL (the company we use for the residential) have introduced a Covid guarantee which will hopefully give
you reassurance about continuing with your payments.

PGL Covid Promise:
Our guarantee will apply in the event of:
• A national or local lockdown (in your locality or the PGL centre you have booked) that prevents you attending your holiday.
• Self-isolation, as dictated by government guidance, where you or a member of your family is symptomatic, is diagnosed, or if you are required to isolate by track and trace.

We will guarantee that:
• If a local lockdown is in effect at the centre you have booked, we will firstly work with you to move your booking to another PGL centre, (at no extra cost)
• If a change of centre is not a viable option, then we will look to amend your travel dates to a suitable, agreed alternative on a future date (at no extra cost)
• If we are not able to arrive at a suitable alternative arrangement, then we will refund all monies paid for your holiday

They will, of course, require evidence such as a positive test result or confirmation from the NHS app of isolations etc if any of these were relevant. Full details can be found on their website.

Payment information

Please note that the same conditions apply to cancellation of the trip that you originally agreed to when signing up back in October: the first £110 is non-refundable in the event of a cancellation by yourself (for a non-Covid
related reason) and any money paid in addition to this is only refundable if we are informed in writing by 31st March 2021 (this date has now been extended from June 2020).

Deposit – £50 by Friday 15th November 2019 (non-refundable)

2nd payment – £80 by Friday 28th February 2020 (£60 is non-refundable)

3rd payment – £80 by Friday 24th April 2020

4th payment – £87 by Wednesday 31st March 2021

Final date for refunds (minus £110 non-refundable payment) – 31st March 2021
